Jeju Island #1

JEJU  ISLAND

<One of the world's New 7 Wonders of Nature>

Jeju Island is an oval-shaped volcanic island 
with 1,950 meter Halla Mountain in the middle.

The island is 73 km from west to east and 31 km from north to south.

 

Jeju which was created by volcanic activity is known for its unique 
volcanic features, and the entire island itself is like a volcanic museum.

There are 368 small mountains on the island and over 160 lava tubes
 are scattered on the island.

It’s very rare to see a small island that has both Oreums(small mountains) 
and caves in the world.

The value of Jeju was proved as the island received

as the island was designated Biosphere Reserve in 2002,

World Natural Heritage in 2007 and Global Geopark in 2010,

making the sub-tropical island only place on Earth

to receive all three UNESCO designations in natural sciences.

Jeju has now become a ‘treasure island of environmental assets’ 
that the world has to preserve.

I'll introduce you some of beautiful attractions!

1.  Seongsan Sunrise Peak

It's not that easy to climb up to the top in summer..!

It's quite stiff.. and It's just soooooo hot!!

But it's a really beautiful spot for sun rise!!! :-))

   

 Interesting looking rocks everywhere..

 So good to dip my legs in the water after all the climbing and walking!

* How to get there?

  - By a car / taxi / bike 
    (Using a rented vehicle can be the cheapest and easiest to travel Jeju)

 

2. U Do

U-Do is a little island near Seongsan.

It's well known for the beautiful beach and emerald sea.

You can get here only by ferry..

and the ferries sometimes don't work when the weather is not so good...

So you should check the weather first if you're planning to go to U-do. 

 You can rent a bike / ATV / motobike near the ferry terminal.

( Bike 10,000 KRW for 3 hours / ATV 10,000 KRW for 1 hour)

However!

You must have the international license to ride an ATV or a motobike..

 This is Hagosudong(하고수동) Beach!!!

So pretty!!!

 

Water here is so flat and clam...

  This is the most beautiful beach in Korea!!!

It's just awesomeeeee!!! 

 And you know what,

you can hear the latest pop music from anywhere in this beach! :-))

* Ferry Terminal Fee: 500 KRW

  (Takes 15 minutes by a ferry)

* How to get there?

  - By a ferry from Seongsanpo(port) or Jongdal-ri(port).

    There're ferries almost every hour from 7:30 AM to 6 PM..

    Seongsanpo is the bigger port, so there're more ferries... and the ferries are big.

    It will be much more comfortable for you travel to U-do from Seongsanpo.

    You can get on the ferry with your vehicle such as a car / motobike / bike. :)

   Remember that you must check the last ferry time when you get into U-do! :-)
